NOTICE OF DATA BREACH

Date of Notice: October 3, 2026

KINDPEOPLES

Dear Customers/Patrons:

We are writing to tell you about a data security incident at IDScan.net, a company KINDPEOPLES uses to scan and verify customer identification at our retail locations. The incident may have involved some of your personal information. This notice explains what happened, what information may be involved, and steps you can take to protect yourself.

What Happened?

KINDPEOPLES uses IDScan.net's VeriScan platform to scan and verify customer IDs at our stores. On or around September 1, 2026, IDScan.net learned that some data may have been accessed without permission. IDScan.net's investigation found that an unauthorized person gained access to part of its cloud system between April 4, 2026, and September 2, 2026.

IDScan.net reports that the incident was limited to its VeriScan platform and did not involve other IDScan.net products. KINDPEOPLES's own systems were not involved. IDScan.net notified KINDPEOPLES of the incident on September 4, 2026.

IDScan.net's investigation is ongoing, and it is cooperating with regulators and law enforcement.
What Information Was Involved?

When your driver's license or state ID card was scanned at one of our stores, VeriScan recorded information from it. The information involved may include:

  • Information on your ID: your full name, home address, date of birth, sex, driver's license or state ID number, issuing state, issue and expiration dates, and the ID's document control number.

  • An image of the front of your ID: this shows your photo, your signature, and everything else printed on the front of the card, such as your height, weight, and eye and hair color.

  • Information about the scan: the date and time of the scan, which store it happened at, the approximate location (GPS coordinates) of the scanning device, and the results of VeriScan's check that your ID was real.

Not every type of information was necessarily involved for every customer. We have no indication that any of the following were involved: passports, medical cards, phone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, payment information, or purchase history.

What We Are Doing.

When IDScan.net discovered the incident, it secured its systems and hired outside specialists to investigate. IDScan.net is adding security improvements to its systems and is cooperating with regulators and law enforcement.

KINDPEOPLES is in contact with IDScan.net about its investigation. We are also reviewing our data retention and privacy policies and how we oversee the vendors that handle customer information, with the goal of reducing the information collected and shared between our systems.

IDScan.net is offering free credit monitoring and identity protection services for twelve (12) months. To enroll, call IDScan.net at 1-833-516-2980, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM Eastern Time, excluding holidays.

What You Can Do.

IDScan.net is not aware of any misuse of personal information from this incident. Still, the information involved could be used for fraud or identity theft, so we encourage you to take these steps:

  • Enroll in the free credit monitoring offered by IDScan.net, using the phone number above.

  • Review your account statements and credit reports for activity you don't recognize. You can get a free credit report from each bureau at www.annualcreditreport.com or 1-877-322-8228.

  • Place a fraud alert or security freeze. Both are free. A fraud alert tells lenders to verify your identity before opening credit. A security freeze blocks access to your credit report until you lift it.

  • Report lost or misused ID. If you believe your driver's license or ID number is being misused, contact the California DMV or the agency that issued your ID.

  • Be careful sharing personal information by phone, email, text, or social media unless you are sure who you are dealing with.

  • Report suspected identity theft to your local police, the California Attorney General, or the Federal Trade Commission.
